Late on the night of 29th January, 19 IAS officers were transferred by the state government. Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, a significant administrative restructuring took place. DMs were replaced in numerous districts. This also includes Kanpur. Kanpur City DM Vishakh ji has been appointed as DM of Aligarh. RK Singh will now assume administrative leadership of Kanpur.

A large number of these 19 IAS officers spent three years in one location. They have been removed on the instructions of the Election Commission. A significant administrative restructuring has occurred prior to the Lok Sabha polls. This is regarded as a significant transfer given the state's law and order situation.
