The Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) was honoured with the India Book of Records for running a continuous cleanliness campaign in the city for 251 hours. The letter of honour was presented by the India Book of Records representative to Mayor Pramila Pandey.

The 251-hour continuous cleanliness drive organized by KMC began from September 25 2024 and concluded on October 5 2024. The safai warriors of various health departments very enthusiastically took part in this initiative. During this project, 1580 cleaning workers cleaned 1000 km of roads. 9500 km long drains and 5800 m long greenbelt was also cleaned.

Apart from this, tonnes of garbage was disposed by cleaning 20 historical sites and ghats, 35 commercial places and 49 temples. 35 officers and sanitation workers were also honoured who made this continuous sanitation campaign a success.

The cleanliness drive covered areas like Chawla Market, Durga Temple via CTI Bridge, Vijay Nagar Square, Shani Dev Temple, Fazalganj, Maryampur Square, Swaraj India Public School, JK Temple, Sir Padampat Singhania School till Coca Cola crossing. The other zone included Sasta Kirana Bhandar, Laxmi Electronic Road, 80 Feet Road, Ashok Nagar Square via Guru Govind Singh Dwar and ended at Nagar Nigam Motijheel premises.

KMC has created this record by breaking its own previous record of continuous cleaning for 207 hours last year. Along with the certificate, a medal was also presented to Mayor Pramila Pandey by India Book of Records.

For this humongous achievement, each and every resident of the city must feel proud and fulfil their duty to keep the city clean.
