Every year, the residents of Kanpur look forward to the Vijaydashmi Mahostav of the 148-year old Parade Ramleela Society, the oldest one in the city. This year, the 148th Vijaydashmi Mahotsav of the Ramleela Society will begin from October 2, 8:30 p.m. at Ramleela Ground, Parade.
Every year, the mahotsav starts with a Ram Katha. An idol of Lord Rama is staged at the Ramleela ground for ten days. The Ram Katha continues till the day of Dussehra. This year, the Ramleela will go on till October 12, the auspicious day of Dussehra and will be celebrated with fireworks and great pomp and show.
Regarding this Ramleela and the many others that happen in different areas of Kanpur, the Police has started making preparations already so that the Dussehra fairs are conducted peacefully.
Every main road of the city will be illuminated and have welcome gates. CCTV cameras will be installed at all fair premises and Ramleela grounds. A report regarding the demand for necessary police force has also been sought from the police station in-charges.
