The work for Kanpur Metro is underway. Unlike the other metro stations, the one at Rawatpur is to have four levels. The construction of this 4.10 km long Rawatpur-Double Pulia underground section under Corridor – 2 (CSA to Barra – 8) of Kanpur Metro Rail Project is progressing rapidly.
Just recently, the casting work of the mid slab below the concourse level started under the vigilance of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) and senior officials of the contracting agency.
The Rawatpur metro station is the only metro station as of now in the city in both the corridors to have four levels. Out of these, three levels: concourse, mid slab and platform will be underground. One floor will be above the ground.
The casting work for the concourse slab has already been completed to the extent of 70%. It houses the station control room, ticket counter and other rooms related to passenger amenities. In the mid slab, rooms for various systems related to operations will be built.
Under the Rawatpur-Double Pulia underground section, three metro stations are to be constructed namely, Rawatpur, Kakadev and Double Pulia. The Rawatpur underground metro station will be the most important among these as it will connect both the corridors of Kanpur Metro.
The Rawatpur underground station which is currently under construction under Corridor – 2 will be connected to the elevated station and passengers will change trains from this station to go from first to second or from second to first corridor stations.
