The Uttar Pradesh government and NHAI is directing the construction of three new expressways that guarantee a significant reduction in the duration and distance of travel between Lucknow and the Delhi-NCR area.
The NHAI intends to construct a highway that will link Ghaziabad-Noida and Kanpur. Furthermore, construction is underway on an additional expressway that will link Lucknow and Kanpur. When completed, the existing Yamuna and Agra expressway as well as the newly built Noida-Kanpur and Kanpur-Lucknow expressway would be the two routes linking Noida and Lucknow.
The proposed 380-kilometre highway that will connect Kanpur and Noida directly is one of the major initiatives. 90% of the land needed for this project has already been acquired by the NHAI, and a comprehensive report has been submitted for approval to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The expressway will be operational by 2026.
With the current highways, it currently takes 7 hours to get from Noida to Lucknow. With the new infrastructure in place, though, the trip should only take 4 hours total, with the Noida-Kanpur portion taking about 3 hours and 20 minutes. The expressway will enhance transportation and connectivity in the region.
